Who we are

At Yoga Sound Bath, we believe sound is one of the most profound healers. It can rattle loose what we’ve been holding onto, calm the storms of the nervous system, shake us in just the right ways, or simply lull us into the deep rest our bodies crave. Sound meets us exactly where we are, sometimes soft and soothing, sometimes powerful and transformative.

We also believe that when sound is paired with gentle, floor-based yoga and meditation, something unique happens. Long-held postures open the body, sound waves move through and around us, and meditation creates space for awareness. Together, these elements work holistically, helping us release what we cannot force ourselves to release, and reconnect with parts of ourselves that have been quiet for too long. There is no striving, no perfection to achieve. The only effort is in showing up, arriving with an open mind, listening without judgment, and allowing yourself to simply be.

Yoga Sound Bath was founded by Matthew Sove -Certified Master Clinical Hypnotherapist, Level Two Certified Sound Healing Practitioner, and RYT 200 Certified Yoga Teacher. After experiencing the profound impact of these practices in his own life, Matthew created Yoga Sound Bath to share what has brought him clarity, calm, and renewal. Each experience is crafted with care, weaving together movement, sound, and stillness so you can rediscover balance, release tension, and rest deeply.

In addition to Matthew’s yoga and healing practices, he is also a Master Ballroom Dance Instructor and is the founder of Chicago’s top-rated and longest-running ballroom dance studio, Ballroom Dance Chicago.

Studio Credo

We live in a culture that teaches us to push hard, move fast, and chase goals without ever asking whether those goals are truly ours. In the West, we’re taught that hard work is the only path forward. We grind, we strive, we perform. And somewhere along the way, many of us stop hearing ourselves. We listen to parents, to expectations, to the noise of the world. We follow desires that were handed to us rather than born from within. Eventually, we reach the point where we can “have what we want,” only to realize we no longer know what that is.

Hard work and determination are not the enemy. They are powerful, beautiful forces, but only when they are aligned with the person we actually are. When effort reflects our own truth, it becomes purposeful rather than punishing.

At Yoga Sound Bath, we believe the real work begins with returning to yourself. We don’t “work out” to perfect the body. We work to hear, to feel, to come back into contact with the part of us that gets buried under the weight of days and weeks. Our practice is about shedding what accumulates, clearing space, and tuning inward. It’s about turning everything off long enough for something real to surface.

We are here to help you reconnect with the quiet voice inside, the one that never stopped speaking, only stopped being heard.
